The Department of Corrections Safety and Risk Management is dedicated to providing a safe workplace for employees, contractors, volunteers, and inmates.
The Department of Corrections currently has a Department Safety and Risk Manager and Institution Safety Managers. Program policy development and evaluation is the primary focus of the department's Safety and Risk Manager, and includes:
- Identification and analysis of risk exposures;
- Evaluation, selection, and implementation of risk finance and risk transfer strategies;
- Worker's comprehensive critical claims management;
- Tort liability claims and litigation management.
Institution safety managers manage worker's compensation claims and implement safety programs at the institutions through their management team, managers, and staff.
