It comprises the Office of Project Management; Office of Public Affairs and Central Support; Research and Evaluation, Legal Affairs; New Prison Construction; and Rules and Policies.
Key objectives and services include developing and disseminating statistical and narrative information about the agency's policies, activities and mission to a broad array of stakeholders; providing leadership and direction to professional project managers; providing a full range of public affairs and government relations services for the agency; providing research and data to support evidence-based programs; coordinating agency legal affairs; providing leadership and oversight for the department's long-range construction plans based on the prison population forecast issued by the department of administrative services; and coordinating agency rulemaking.
The office has primary responsibility for providing coordination, direction and facilitation of inmate litigation incurred throughout the department.
Office of Project Management
The Office of Project Management is a resource to the DOC to develop creative strategies, promote systems thinking, build effective processes, and to assist in mentorship and delivery of critical project management services.
New Prison Construction supports the Department's mission by providing safe and secure cost effective facilities to house and program offenders at or below the approved budget within the schedule constraints dictated by the population forecast.
The Office of Public Affairs and Central Support is responsible for creating and executing communication strategies to provide information about DOC to the public and other stakeholders.
Rules and policies govern all aspects of department operations. Administrative rules are agency directives that interpret or implement laws in terms of general applicability. Polices explain or describe a procedure or practice of the agency.
